Every flower is a work of art. #Resinart
Flowers are ephemeral beauties – especially on special occasions like a wedding, an anniversary, or a cherished farewell. How wonderful would it be to make these emotional moments visible forever? With epoxy resin, that's exactly what's possible! By encasing flowers – such as a rose , an orchid , or even the entire bridal bouquet – you can preserve your memories and transform them into artistic decorative objects or personal keepsakes. In this article, we'll show you step by step how to preserve flowers with epoxy resin – including tips on drying, sealing, and casting techniques.
How to preserve your flowers with epoxy resin
Epoxy resin allows you to permanently preserve flowers – whether as a bridal bouquet keepsake , a gift, a decoration, or a piece of jewelry. Thanks to modern resin systems like our Art-Resin or the D600 thick-film resin, you can even do it at home with a little preparation and patience.
Step-by-step instructions

Step 1
Which flowers are suitable for embedding in epoxy resin?
Not all types of flowers are equally suitable for casting with epoxy resin. It's important that the blossoms are compact, colorfast, and dry. Here are some tried-and-tested examples:
• Roses • Daisies • Lavender • Forget-me-nots • Marguerites • Strawflowers • Violets • Small flowers & wildflowers
These flowers can be potted, but require special drying:
• Hydrangeas (tend to develop mold in damp conditions)
• Gerberas (large, often need to be pressed)
• Tulips & daffodils (high water content, better to press)
• Peonies (magnificent, but very sensitive to moisture)
❌ Less suitable: Fresh flowers, fleshy plants (e.g., succulents, orchids) and flowers with a high oil content (e.g., lilies)
Important: The flowers must be completely dry . Fresh flowers contain too much moisture – this leads to mold growth, cloudy resin, and many air bubbles in the resin.

Step 2
How to dry flowers properly: This way the color is preserved
There are several methods to preserve your flowers. The best is: the desiccant method (e.g., with silica gel) :
Especially gentle on shape and color. Place silica gel in an airtight container, put the flower inside, and carefully cover it with gel. The flowers will be completely dry after 5–7 days.
❗Alternatively, you can also air-dry flowers by hanging them upside down in a dry, dark place – however, this takes several weeks and the blossoms may become deformed.❗

Step 3
Preparation & choosing epoxy resin
Before you begin casting with epoxy resin: Check that the flowers are completely dry. Dried flowers should have a residual moisture content of less than 10% , ideally even less than 5% , before being encased in epoxy resin. The lower the residual moisture, the better. Tip : If you want to be absolutely sure, you can use a moisture meter (for wood/plants).
For embedding flowers, we recommend our: ✅ Resin-Art-Series for thin layers and smaller objects ✅ D600 Thick layer for larger molds or thick layers (e.g., for spheres, cubes, blocks, or tabletops with flowers). Both resins are crystal clear and UV-stabilized – ideal for delicate flower colors.

Step 4
Embed flowers or blossoms in epoxy resin
1. Prepare the mold: Use a silicone mold in the desired size (e.g. cube , sphere, heart , picture frame ).
2. Pour a first thin layer of resin: This serves as a base and prevents the flower from slipping. Let it dry: Approximately 4–6 hours until the gel phase (depending on room temperature).
3. Position the flower: Carefully place it on the first layer using tweezers.
4. Pour the second layer of resin: After the flower is fixed in place, it can now be completely covered with resin.
5. Venting: Remove air bubbles with a hot air gun or isopropanol spray.
6. Allow to harden: Depending on the product and pouring height, let it rest for 24 to 72 hours.
Whether it's a single rose blossom or an entire bridal bouquet, embedding flowers in epoxy resin is more than just a DIY project. It's a way to capture special moments forever – elegantly, creatively, and durably. A unique keepsake that not only looks beautiful but also tells a story. So: dare to experiment – and make your memories last forever.

Occupational safety is important!
Epoxy resin is and remains a hazardous substance. Therefore, think about your health and wear gloves and a respirator to prevent skin contact and inhalation of fumes.
